About

Diana Lee Sherman is an actress, mother, grandmother, physical therapist assistant, youth volunteer, costume designer and children's book author.

Sherman's first children's book "Not Everyone Likes Peas" tells the story of a little girl who loves peas and learns that it is okay for each of us to be different. Sherman's second book "Albert the Misunderstood" teaches that things aren't always as they seem. Her third book is currently under development.

She holds an Associate Degree of Science from Southeastern Illinois College, as well as an Associate Degree of Applied Science from Southern Illinois University.

Diana loves working with children. One of her all-time favorite positions was working as a summer camp counselor. In her spare time, she volunteers with youth in the local drama club, where she shares her passion for the theatre arts; in addition, she coaches a middle school speech team and serves as a member of the Illinois Elementary School Association Speech Advisory Committee. These volunteer opportunities enable her to share her stage skills with impressionable youth while gaining insight and inspiration for her writing. She currently resides in the vicinity of Mount Vernon, Illinois.

On June 8th, 2016 Five Star Dragonfly Book Awards announced that Diana Lee Sherman and Rebecca Michael Zeissler's first book "Not Everyone Likes Peas" had won the 2016 Purple Dragonfly Honorable Mention Award in the School Issues category.
